1st Day: Ouarzazate – Erg Lihoudi Dunes
Start your Ouarzazate to Erg Lihoudi desert tour, passing by Agdez, at the head of the Dra’a Valley. Here, you will stop for a coffee or tea break. Next, you drive off-track through the Dra’a Valley’s unlimited palm groves as far as Zagora. This is the last town before the desert, which will be the venue for lunch.
In the afternoon, you continue to M’hamid El Ghizlane. This is the end of the asphalted road and the beginning of the desert. Here, an hour’s camel ride leads to the desert camp in the dunes of Erg Lihoudi.
Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by mint tea and Moroccan biscuits. Afterwards, you can climb to the top of the dunes to witness an unforgettable sunset. At night, taste dinner under the starry Saharan sky. Then, enjoy a small party of nomad music and singing around a fire camp. Overnight sleep in your private nomad tent at the foot of the dunes.
2nd Day: Erg Lihoudi Dunes – Ouarzazate:
Get up early in the morning, you can climb to the summit of the dunes. You will be rewarded with an amazing spectacle of the sunrise and splendid views of the sand dunes. After breakfast, you will return to M’hamid on camelback. Your desert trip continues driving north as far as the village of Tamegroute. Here, visit the green pottery workshops and learn to recreate your favourite pottery item.
Next, you drive north along the ancient Road of the Caravans to Kasbah Tamnougalte. After lunch, you will visit the Kasbah with a local guide. The Kasbah is completely built out of adobe and is still partly inhabited.
