Ouarzazate to Merzouga desert tour 2 days – itinerary:

1st day: Ouarzazate – Merzouga:

After breakfast, begin your Ouarzazate to Merzouga tour. Your driver will be picked you up in an air-conditioned 4×4 car. Your first scheduled stop will be in Skoura Oasis. Explore the palm tree fields and visit the beautifully repaired Kasbah Amredhil.

Your desert journey continues through the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs and the Valley of the Roses. In Kel’aa M’gouna, you can visit the local co-operatives to learn about locally-made cosmetic products.

After lunch, there will be opportunities to explore the Dades Valley, full of garden fields and olive trees. Shortly after,  take a walk alongside the riverbank and through the fascinating Toudgha Gorges.  Driving further east, you will drive past many Berber villages as far as Erfoud. Here, you can visit the fossil exhibits and have a tea break.

At Chebbi dunes, an hour camel ride leads to the top of the dunes (250 m). From here, witness the spectacle of the sunset and enjoy the peacefulness of the Sahara. Back at the campsite, sip a welcoming glass of tea and check in to your private tent.

At night, savour dinner under the starlit sky of the Sahara. San an evening of traditional music with the nomads and the other guests. Sleep in your private nomad tent in a Merzouga desert camp near the big dunes.

2nd day: Merzouga – Ouarzazate:

Early in the morning, a second camel ride leads to the summit of the dunes of Erg Chebbi. From the summit, the sunrise and the views of the sand dunes are spectacular.

Back at the camp, you will have breakfast and continue your desert adventure. You will drive from the Merzouga desert to Ouarzazate passing by many Berber villages. Including Rissani, Alnif, Tazzarine, featured in the movie ‘Babel’, and N’Qob. You will explore the village and have lunch.

In the afternoon, you travel off-track through the Dra’a Valley. This is the longest valley in Morocco and is full of palm trees and kasbahs.  After exploring the valley, enjoy a scenic drive along the ancient Road of the Caravans. Back on the paved road, you stop at Agdez for a coffee or tea break. Later on, you cross the Anti-Atlas Mountains and pass of Tizi-n-Tinfifite to arrive at Ouarzazate.
